I’d like to find a new home for our 13 foot, 8 inch, Melonseed Skiff. Built by the Crawford yard in Massachusetts, this stout fiberglass hull is adorned with gorgeous wooden brightwork. Better than new, she comes with a galvanized trailer, oars and a full cover. The sail is in fine shape. These boats are reported to be the hull form from which the Laser was derived. There’s a delightful hollow at the bow, and a transom that can set your heart racing. The stayless lug rig means trailer to sailor in under 10 minutes. The Melonseed likes to sail flat, is dry and is quick. You’ll get used to passing much larger boats in a hurry. Other Melonseeds are selling for $12 to $13,000. We are asking $6,000. For one or two, you cannot find a better boat for exploring the Sound.. Why sell? I’m about to turn 69, and I want to move into something a bit more … sedate, perhaps? Not ready for a motorhome yet, but buying and trading boats is something sailors do, right? Happy to oblige with a test sail.
Boat is located in Port Townsend.
