Traditionally held on the first Saturday in May, opening day is a big deal in Seattle with a large festival put on by the Seattle Yacht Club including the Windermere Cup Crew races through the Montlake Cut as well as a large boat parade which follows. In Port Townsend, the Port Townsend Yacht Club hosts an annual cruise from PT to Port Ludlow with a dinner on Saturday and a pancake breakfast on Sunday.
